Transition Toronto

Supporting and nurturing the growth of a more resilient Toronto

TTo - Transition Skills Forum - Workshop leaders wanted!

Hello,

I am pleased to announce the launch of Transition Toronto's Transition Skills Forum.

The Forum will be a place where those with skills essential to all of us in Transition, will host a workshop/seminar to share how to do a particular thing (for example, container gardening).

  • Participants will pay $5 or pay-what-you-can to attend plus the cost of materials.  The maximum number of participants may change with the event and venue.
  • Workshop leaders will not be paid for their time.  However, if the particular skill/service is something you offer professionally, we encourage you to market your business at the end of each workshop. The goal is to equip more of our citizens with essential skills while also helping Transition-related businesses to grow.
  • TTo will help with advertising, securing a venue and A/V equipment, administration, and evaluation forms, while the workshop leader will also help with advertising, planning and logistics.
  • Must preferably take place on a weekday evening, between 6-9 OR on a weekend
  • We would like to host one Transition Skills Forum per month, officially beginning in May.  If you are interested in sharing your skills with fellow Transitioners, please contact us and reserve your spot for the remaining months of 2012 (below).  You must reserve your place 4 weeks in advance of the proposed workshop date.

Melissa Berney and I would like to offer an introductory beekeeping workshop. There's an awful lot to learn about honey bees and hive management so this would be just a taste. I wonder if this would be best offered soon or instead at the end of the beekeeping season (late fall?) to allow interested 'newbees' to pursue more indepth study over the winter prior to setting up their own colonies the following spring.

Woohoo! Glad to see this posted. Thanks for working on this, Daniel, and getting it started. I look forward to these re-skilling workshops. Will see which one I might be able to offer. :)
