Convert platic into oil.

This is a video of a Japanese invention to convert plastic garbage into oil. Does anyone have a way to measure the carbon footprint? What's the energy return on investment? Would it result in greater consciousness and reduction of plastic, or complacency about consuming more plastic? Interesting all the same. Next we'll probably be mining landfill sites for plastic.
