Martina Rowley is attending Andrew James Knox's eventOur April 21st meeting was small and short but full of fabulous ideas! We came up with our first community engagement plan.
Sarah, Steve, Ronn and I discussed how to get Beachers engaged, and help them "envision" a better neighbourhood. This seems to be a stumbling block for many people and hinders community engagement and sustainable development. With everybody being so busy with their day-to-day lives, their seems little downtime for creative thinking, and imagining “how to get…

It was a bit of an experiment; three presenters providing, together, an overview of the challenges of Peak Oil and Climate Change, the Transition Towns model, and Transition Toronto. Daniel Bida, Andrew Knox, and I each wanted to bring our passion for specific aspects of Transition to the table. And according to our audience, it worked.

Our recent survey showed that many of our members would like to learn more about the concept of Transition Towns. Sarah Ives said… Hi Martina,
We had another Craft-city meeting yesterday, three of us, one a returning participant. I think the word is spreading, and I'm getting pretty good at explaining transition. I look forward to more discussions with Beach in Transition and the monthly group meeting and am wondering when the next meetings are. I just picked up The transition companion : making your community more resilient in uncertain times from the library. Perhaps someone you know is interested in reading it. I suggested the library buy it and there are two copies but no holds. Hope the park project is going well.
Cheers,
Sarah

Sarah Ives said… Hi Martina,
Took me a while but thanks for contacting me here. Please let me know a good time of day to call you to set up a message on this site for anyone interested in working on handmade projects as part of Transition Toronto. I've been thinking it would be good to leave it open, see who turns up and what they are interested in. Thanks.
Cheers,
Sarah
Davoud Shirazi said… Hi Martina,
Sorry for late reply. It is less than a month that I moved to Toronto and it takes time to get settled.
Please let me know how I can get information about the projects you are working on.
Thanks,
Davoud
