Transition Toronto

Supporting and nurturing the growth of a more resilient Toronto

Permaculture Study

Permaculture is a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature; of protracted & thoughtful observation rather than protracted & thoughtless labour; & of looking at plants & animals in all their functions, rather than treating any area as a single-product system.

-Bill Mollison

NC State offers a free permaculture course online complete with filmed lectures and slides. There are 29, 90 minute lectures the include topics such as ethics and principles, soil ecology, vermicomposting and green architecture.

If you would be interested in working through this course with some fellow Transition Towns members please add a comment to this page to that effect, and we will contact you through this site.

Do we have a new date and time for the study group (I can't see the results people have posted and no longer see my own postings).

Comment by fran freeman on November 2, 2011 at 5:19pm
In Montreal Wed the 9th through Sat the 12th (back late that night).
Comment by Jessica Lemieux on November 2, 2011 at 9:08am

When are you in Montreal Fran?

Here is another doodle - both the admin link and the participant link so if you want to add a day go for it! The days I picked were the ones that at the moment are open.

I think this will be an organic process as we work through the lectures so if we don't meet till later in November I don't think it's a problem at all.

I'm working Sunday. I will be in Montreal for a few days next week through to the weekend (and think Melissa may be as well?). Maybe we should go back to the Doodle format to figure this out.

Oh dear - it's really difficult to find a common time! I'll be in Guelph next Tuesday! I'm going to through out Sunday morning-ish (I have an obligation at 1:30).

I agree that it would be nice to have all of us present. I am also free next Tues.

I can't do next Monday but could do Tuesday any time from 2:30 on.  Since we're such a small group I think it would be nice if we could all be there.

Sorry, I meant next Mon or Tues. :) But you guys go ahead and meet Wed as you planned. I can just check in with Jess and see what I missed and see you at the next one.

I'm also fine any time wednesday (would prefer not too too early, as it's a sleep-in day between 2 very early-start days).
Comment by fran freeman on October 31, 2011 at 2:49pm

Comment by Jessica Lemieux on October 31, 2011 at 1:57pm

Can we come up with a day that works for Shawn also? What about Fri the 4th? Did that date work for you Jessica (your availability doesn't show on my version of the calendar).

Comment by Shawn Phelps on October 31, 2011 at 12:07pm
Oh no. I volunteer every other Wed at the seniors' food program. Hopefully I'll see you at the Permaculture Conf meeting Wed night Jess and you can fill me in on what I missed.
