Transition Toronto

Supporting and nurturing the growth of a more resilient Toronto

Permaculture Study

Permaculture is a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature; of protracted & thoughtful observation rather than protracted & thoughtless labour; & of looking at plants & animals in all their functions, rather than treating any area as a single-product system.

-Bill Mollison

NC State offers a free permaculture course online complete with filmed lectures and slides. There are 29, 90 minute lectures the include topics such as ethics and principles, soil ecology, vermicomposting and green architecture.

If you would be interested in working through this course with some fellow Transition Towns members please add a comment to this page to that effect, and we will contact you through this site.

Melissa & Fran (and Jess!), I'm taking care of speakers at the conference, so I'll see you there (there's a Speakers' Room). Rebecca, thanks for the link--if I have time I'll come, but may be swamped with conference stuff. Jess, thanks for the video link--totally loved it. :)

It was a great conversation. I'm glad I joined you... Thanks! Jess, I should have gotten your email address - I haven't heard back from Carole re baked goods but when let you know when I do. Have you already tried ChocoSol (they're often very generous with donations)?

We missed ya, but were already impressed you were even considering it after such a long bus trip. :) Sadly, though, you didn't get to try Jess's lovely soup and Rebecca's squash. See you at the next one!

Hi folks,

Sorry I wasn't there yesterday.  A ticketing debacle ended with a midnight arrival... I did all my homework though, and will carry on with the next chunk.

Sounds good!

I'll be there. I may even be a tad early as I have to be in Chinatown for the afternoon helping with a PPGTA thing, and may run out of ways to kill time in-between the two (though kensington is usually great for that. :)

7:30 is fine. get tired pretty early, so not likely a long evening for me.

I'm also in Montreal for the weekend, but unfortunately we're only coming back on Monday.  The bus is scheduled to get in at 7:40pm -I could join you afterwards.

Hey Rebecca,

Jess is our moderator and can provide more info on the meeting format. But just as a quick update from our last meeting: we are following the above course link. If memory serves, we covered the first 4 videos last week. For our next meeting you may want to watch the next four videos. You are definitely welcome!

Hi, If it's not too late to join, I'd love to be part of this group. What exactly is the plan or format for meeting? ... I am available on Nov 14.

No  - all the dates seem to have gotten grayed out on doodle...

How about Monday the 14th (once Fran is back) in the evening potluck dinner style at my house (it'll be cozy!)?
