I am very pleased to find the Transition Movement here in Toronto and I look forward to attending workshops. I was at a farmer's market on the weekend run by a community of Amish farmers ( or Mennonite?) and I am in awe of them. I would give my University degree to have their skills!

Lesley,

Thanks so much for joining and thanks for Rebecca for bringing you on board.  Her effort has been really important for TDV.

I've filled out the doodle for my availability. Also I would certainly vote for our meet-and-greet to be a potluck. I can't be a host but I am quite able to contribute food :) looking forward to meeting everyone!

A Don Valley meeting sounds like a great idea Marisa! I like the potluck idea too, and I can offer my apartment or (depending on date) the party room at Hugh Garner Co-op.

... In the meantime, a group of us met for a book club a few weeks ago, and decided to read the fantastic EcoMind by Frances Moore Lappe. We'll be having our first discussion on Monday Dec. 5 at 8-9pm at Hugh Garner Co-op - reading the Foreword and first chapter, "Our Challenge". More people are welcome!... And I'm still keen to read and discuss the new Transition Companion!

Lesley, I'm absolutely thrilled that you were inspired by the film to join TTo! Thanks for your kind comments, and I'm glad you're here! (And stay tuned for more Green Movie Nights coming soon!)

TDV Potluck - Meet and Greet

Our potluck will take place on Sunday, January 15, from 2pm until ? at Hugh Garner Co-op, located at 550 Ontario St., just west of Parliament, one block south of Wellesley. We'll meet in the 8th floor party room, looking out on the green roof. The buzzer code will be posted in the lobby.

Anything is welcome including snacks or appetizers, though please keep the environment in mind and try to avoid packaged goods, or non-local/organic. Some simple cooking ideas include:

Veggies and hummus
Soup or stew
Bakery bread and cheese
Green salad
Fruit salad
Cookies
Banana bread

Please post to the group what you plan to bring, so there is no overlap.

Hope to see you all there!

Hi everyone,

I'll make a soup, probably a squash soup ;) . Sorry for the late reply. It would be great to hear from others what you're bringing, and mainly just a confirmation that you're still able to make it. Hope to see you all soon,

Rebecca

I've confirmed via email, but consider this extra confirmation.  I'm bringing a bean salad.

Hi Guys, unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it to the meeting. I'm really sorry but I have an appointment I'm unable to get out of. Please post the outcome of the discussions because I would love to hear what went on.
