John, I'd like to promote the Transition Toronto group and would be available to discuss:
- setting up information sessions
- creating marketing material
- contacting media outlets
- distributing information
- posting online content

Let me know what the next step should be.

Cheers!

Hey terrific!
Maybe I'll set up a coffeeshop event where we and anyone else can meet to discuss - I'm midtown (st.clair and yonge), maybe a Saturday or Sunday morning? Weekday evening? I can show you what material we've developed so far and discuss the other items and more.

Good idea to start this workgroup, John and Joyelle! Figured I should join it - since I`ve been heavily involved in TTo awareness-raising. And yes, let`s meet for some planning. Weekends are better for me; I`m far too busy during the week with work meetings and events.

Update/Info on the Socal Media side: Our twitter account is TransitionTO: http://twitter.com/#!/transitionTO this has been quite interesting actually, following Rob Hopkins' tweets and some of the other transition groups. Connected with Transition Voice for example;; they're looking for articles on Transition for their online newspaper.
Our FaceBook page is this: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/TransitionToronto/116952875030941
... please join! - when we get up to 25 users, we'll get a more straightforward URL without the numbers

Quick question - has Transition Toronto approached Spacing Magazine about submitting an article on Transition Toronto?
Comment by John Fleming on November 12, 2010 at 10:19pm
No, but go for it! I think getting into some of the TO zines and blogs has got to be one of our best free avenues for publicity. I tried to submit an article to Torontoist back in the spring, but my attempt didn't cut it.

Thanks John. Let me think on it. Spacing would be perfect. Perhaps an article on what Transition Toronto is doing as an anecdote to the right wing policies of our mayor.

Another great fit is thegreenpages.ca. I know the editor. He was very accomodating during C-Day last year, posting our press releases and profile articles. I wouldn't mind connecting with you all to brainstorm story ideas.

Sorry for the delay, let's meet! - what about @10:30 Sunday (21st) morning? Central location - how about 7west Cafe (7 Charles Street West, 1 block south of Yonge and Bloor)? Maybe I'll set up an event...

Ooh, I'm free Sunday morning too! Would love to meet with the Awareness Raising group. Love the idea of getting some more articles on TTo out there, and I have thoughts and plans for a few more film nights during the winter months in the new year (not before Xmas....).
