Transition Toronto is merely an umbrella, providing support and addressing city-scale issues...
...the real action happens in The Neighborhoods!
Okay then; so how do we go about encouraging more neighborhood groups? What's the right scale for a neighborhood? How to locate transitioners in your neighborhood? How does this work in a big city rather than a village? Etc...
One idea: We've had some success experimenting with Ning Groups for interests - (see Groups in the sidebar at the right beneath Events). So far we've created Heart & Soul and Awareness Raising, and will be creating Re-skilling soon. I've just created a neighborhood group 'Midtown', and I think the other neighborhood groups will also create groups shortly. And of course if you'd like to initiate a group in your neighborhood, please go ahead!
We hope the groups will allow people to self-organize by geography and interest.
...Any other thoughts on neighborhoods?
Here's the Star Neighborhood Map for the uncertain.
