Hi all,
First, I'm new to Transitions Toronto but the ideas interest me a lot.
Second, I'm new to the Riverside neighbourhood and looking to get involved in some kind of eco-minded group.
Third, I noticed that this ning used to have a Riverdale group but that it seems to have become defunct.
So, I'm wondering if there's any interest in getting a Riverdale/Riverside/Leslieville area group going? Is that even an appropriate size for a transition group?
Let me know!
Thanks
Tim

There IS an existing group in your area! It is (confusingly) named a little differently: Transition Don River. Initially it was Transition Riverdale but several members from Cabbagetown didn't have anyone to join, and since there group is still quite small it made sense to widen the boundaries a bit. If and when it takes off, there could be a Riverdale and/or Leslieville group.
There's not a prescribed "ideal size" or geographic area for a group. It can be what you want to make it. From my experience with the east end group I'm with (EETE), it works better the more local it is. Else it takes more time travelling to meeting venues, each others houses, or shared food growing spots than one wants.
Contact Marisa Melendez via her profile page on this website, and then you can exchange contact info and join Transition Don Valley. You can also add yourself as a member by going to the tab "Groups" and joining there. Enjoy!
