A screening of the End of Suburbia to kick off the Transition Toronto Film Contest (http://bit.ly/knTPVi) and film workshops (http://bit.ly/m20bBd), with a talk by the film-maker, Greg Greene.
As we enter the 21st century, serious questions are beginning to emerge about the sustainability of this way of life. With brutal honesty and a touch of irony, The End of Suburbia explores the American Way of Life and its prospects as the planet approaches a critical era, as global demand for fossil fuels begins to outstrip supply. World Oil Peak and the inevitable decline of fossil fuels are upon us now, some scientists and policy makers argue in this documentary. The consequences of inaction in the face of this global crisis are enormous. What does Peak Oil mean for North America?
See the film that inspired the beginnings of the Transition Movement, with a talk by its film-maker, Greg Greene, on the film and the ability of film to change the world.
This film gives us an overview of the problems that we face. It is then up to us to show Toronto what the solutions are: http://bit.ly/knTPVi
The cost is $5 or pay-what-you-can.
